Pigs hurt the coach’s heart and almost gave her a heart attack

As if the whole complex did not know, I paid Reed to heckle Miguel the entire game. Miguel stepped up and showed he can swing the bat, going 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns and scoring 5 of our 10 RBIs. As a team we scraped together a total of 13 hits for 10 runs so it was not our best outing, but we will enjoy the win.

I cannot stress enough that no lead is ever safe, no matter how big or small, in the game of softball (fastpitch or slow pitch). It is never over till time is up and the home team finishes their last at bat. We all learned this once again Sunday as the pigs did their best to try and come back in their last at bat. One swing of the bat can change a softball game and that is exactly what happened Sunday. Play hard and be competitive till the last out is called, one swing is all it takes. The pigs are always a competitive team so I knew our lead wasn’t safe and they gave it their all in the last inning to try and come back but with our stellar defense, we were able to hold them off just long enough. Looking forward to competing against them again later this year. Stellar group of guys!

Defense wins games

Total of 15 hits this game with 9 runs scored. Prim went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and Miguel stayed hot going 2 for 2 with a walk. After nursing a headache in the first game, Earls came out swinging and went 3 for 2 with 3 RBIs. Our rookie of the week, Alec Weissman, really showed up big this game and helped flip our lineup going 3 for 2 with 2 runs scored.

Brad Earls has really stepped up and played an awesome short stop for us the past two weeks. I cannot say enough about how well he has played and has short stop locked down. One of the best pickups from the supplemental draft for us was Robbie Franklin who has been locked down at first base and makes some of our bad throws look good. Defense will be the key for us this season. We can score runs so no one should sleep on us but our stellar defense will win us more games than our hitting will.
