New look Braves find their groove

Now to the good stuff…

 

Needing an energy boost after being stuck in the early season doldrums, the Braves decided to shake things up a bit by making wholesale changes across the board.  This proved to be a pivotal decision as the Braves looked like a completely different team and swept against two solid squads from the other division.

 

Game 9:

 

Brumley’s Braves 13 @ Buhrow’s Baby Jays 10

 

The revitalized Braves came out swinging early in this affair. Matt Brumleyled off the game with a triple off the fence and quickly scored on the first of what will be many TSSL bombs by Zach San Roman.  The team strung together several more hits over the next couple of innings, including 5 straight to begin the 3rdby Kevin KnoxDoug KramerOmar Gonzalez,Karlos Rodriguez, and Gustavo Chirinosto build a 9-1 lead.  After a furious rally by the Jays in the 4thto make it a close game, the Braves responded by adding a couple of insurance runs over the final innings on clutch 2 out RBI singles by Tony Loweryand Doug Kramerbefore shutting the door on the top of the Jays order to put this one away.

Game 10:

 

Greeley’s River Bandits 14 @ Brumley’s Braves 16

 

After remembering the sweet taste of victory in game 1, the inspired Braves won this game in walkoff fashion with an epic 7 run bottom of the 7th.  The team started out this game similarly with another leadoff triple by Matt Brumley, who came around to score on a Tim Kaminski HR.  Doug Kramerand Jerry Rogersadded 2 out RBI singles, followed by another big Doug Kramer2 out hit to score 2 more in the 3rd.  Both teams then started blasting HRs, including Zach San Romanand Tim Kaminskigoing back to back twice.  After going into the bottom of the 7thdown 14-9, the stage was set for the dramatics as the team was eventually down 14-12 with the bases loaded and 2 outs.  Karlos Rodriguezpicked a great time for his first TSSL HR of the season, a no doubt grand slam for the walkoff victory.  A wild (socially distanced) celebration ensued before the team captain had to cross the street to find the ball after the game.
