Red Sox pocket a pair

The Red Sox played Leo Cova's Marauders and then Abbey Garber's Grasshoppers.

In game 1, the Red Sox could only score 1 off the commissioner on Tim Kaminski's 2 out solo HR.  The Marauders grabbed a 3-1 lead after 1. The Red Sox struck for 4 in the top of the 2nd featuring a leadoff hit by Brian Smallwood and walks to Sean Harcourt and Matt Casey.  Greg "Badger" Hurst had a 2 out 2  run 2B followed by Darryl Drake's 2 out 2 run hit.  Brad Parr shut the home team out in the bottom of the 2nd. The first 3 Red Sox scored in the 3rd including Brian Babbitt's leadoff 2B, Parr's hit and Brad Cox's run scoring 2B. Joe Beasley had a SF and Harcourt's hit set up the 3rd run and an 8-3 lead.  The Maruaders answered with 1. The Red Sox opened it up in the 4th including SFs by Kaminski and Parr a 2 run HR by Cox. The Red Sox finished with 6 in the 5th on walks to Harcourt and Casey and featured a 3 run HR by Babbitt.  Parr and the defense completed the 18-9 win

Game 2 had the Sox as hosts. The G-hoppers scored 2 in the top of the 1st. the Red Sox then erupted with 13 runs in the home 1st en route to the 16-9 win.  The outburst included2 runs from Badger, Drake  and Babbitt. Hrs were struck by Babbitt, Drake and Parr. The entire line up was contributors to the statement inning.

Red Sox stars were numerous for the day but included: POW contributor Drake 7-8, 4 run, 7 RBI, 10 runs created, 1 2B and 1 HR; ROW contributor Babbitt 5-7, 5 runs, 9 RBI, 2 HRs, 2B, BB and 12 runs created; Badger 5 hits, 2B, SF, 5 runs, 5 RBI; Kaminski 2 hits, 2 SFs, HR, 3 runs and RBI; Parr 5-6 BB, SF, HR, 2B and strong pitching and defense at 1B; Cox 3 hits, 3 runs and RBI, 2B, HR strong defense; Brian Smallwood 4 hits, 2B, 2 runs and RBI, Harcourt 2-3, 4 BBs, 4 runs, excellent play at C and embracing his move up in the lineup! The defense and contributions from all were well played and appreciated. It's on to division play.
