PULLING BACON FAT OUT OF THE FRYER

ASTROS – 16 VS IRONPIGS – 11

The little Piggies took the field on a 3 game skid, but looked to turn their fortune around against the formidable Astros.  An offense powered by the likes of Eusay, Reed and Enlow.  Pepper in a complimentary crew with Sardis, Chappy, Burke, Flash and Ritter, and crooked numbers are put on the scoreboard frequently.  No different in this contest as this team scored 6 in the first and another 7 in the fourth inning.  The Ironpigs countered with some offense of their own trying desperately to overcome the deficit to end the losing streak.

Spencer the BroMANZer was a perfect 3-3 including a DBL and HR.  Cbass was perfect as well going 2-2, and JZ had himself a game with a 2-2 and a  sac fly effort  thanks to his alarm clock waking him up this week.  The Piggies actually hit the Astros well, with 10 players reaching base safely at least twice, however, the story of the game came down to innings 3 and 4.  Both Piggie rallies ended with outs 2 and 3 coming on players hitting into double plays.  Credit goes to the Astros D for getting out of the jam, and immediately putting runs on the board to stretch the lead to a victory.

IRONPIGS – 15 VS BREWERS – 6

The Piggies needed to pull their “bacon fat” out of the fryer and find a dub before the losses pile up too much to make the “Big Boy Playoffs”.

Finally, a break for the piggies in this game as the Brew Crew had to play out of position in the field with all-star Brad Earls out of the lineup.  Cpt. Prim played fantastic in his stead at SS, but a leg injury wouldn’t allow her to track some fly balls she would have otherwise had.  Rookie Carlos Cruz kept the Brewers in the game with one ridiculous play after another, creating 8 total outs for his team.

The Pigs jumped out to a 2 run top of the first lead with Manz and Brumley doubles, only to countered by 3 Brewers runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to some clutch hitting.  By the top of the 5th, the game had stalled to a defensive stalemate, thanks in part to Anders finding his rhythm and pitching a gem.  Brinkman and Cbass both singled to start the offense in this inning, and with the score 5-4 on the yellow jersey’s favor, Adam “Schodaddy” Schor grabbed the lead for good for the Piggies with a 3 run "Jimmy Jack cracked corn and he don't care" moonshot over the RCF fence.  Brumley quickly followed that up with a 2 run double of his own, and Wild Thing Jeff Roberts promptly plated another Bacon Boy with a single.  Lowery, Forniglia and JZ all had singles as well to help the Pigs make their way to an 8 run inning.  Every little Piggie had a hit in the game brining the total to 26 base knocks, thus helping us pull our proverbial "Bacon Fat" out of the fryer.
