As kids, who didn’t love to play under the rain? But when you grow up, only expert adults can perform well under such pressure and is no secret that a courageous crew of filibusters is more than well equipped to deal with such savage natural condition as we saw this past Sunday at the Allen shores

At first, Cap’n began sharing with his crew the insights he gathered during his recent visit to the Marauders headquarter on how they will approach the upcoming mini’s schedule (unfortunately this is confidential information and will not be disclosed in any Cap’n letters), to then realize that it was almost game time and order his crew to jump immediately to unmercifully attack the “Cuddlecitos” bar and rob any new Tacos included in the menu by famous food industry expert Craig “El Chef” Dyer

And the crew responded alright, with a 4-bullet attack in the 1st inning thanks to rbi singles from Filibuster of the Week “Quartermaster” Lawrence and Donnie “Baseball” Holtmann. An attack that kept on in the 2nd inning with an additional 1-bullet scored by “The Doctor” London thanks to a sac-fly from “2Guns” Apligian (a.k.a “The New Guy”).

As the rain kept pouring, also the bullet attacks from the crew, with 2 more in the 3rd inning thanks doubles from “First Mate” Baho and “Baseball” Holtmann. Fast forward to the 5th inning, and with a scoreless Tacos, thanks to the gem being thrown from Filibuster of the Week Lawrence, the Tacos launched the first of two 3-spicy chilies attack in back to back innings, to create a really close affair heading to a dramatic 7th inning-ending with a 7-6 lead for the crew.

Then Cap’n yelled out his crew saying “we have had our good share of one-run loses, so we better attack fiercely the Cuddlecito’s bar”, and the filibusters followed the orders with a 3-run attack thanks to a single rbi from “2Guns” Apligian and “Quartermaster” Lawrence 2-run bomb, to take a 10-6 lead, that will stay for the rest of the game, giving the Marauders its 2nd win of the season!

Inspired after such fantastic performance, the crew kept their sailing journey heading to Field 3 to face the always dangerous IronPigs led by the best skipper in the land, Mr. Alford, to avenge their defeat from the last battle

Pigs started strong by launching a 1-“oink” attack to the ship in the 1st inning, but the crew quickly responded back with a 2 bullet attack in the bottom of the same inning, thanks to rbi singles from “2Guns Apligian” and “First Mate” Baho bringing home best sub in Marauder’s history, “Gunner” Mabry

After a quiet 2nd on the Pigs side – as a matter of fact, all innings from now will be quiet on that side thanks to another pitching gem from “Quartermaster” Lawrence – crew launched a big 5 bullet attack to sink further the Pigs thanks to “The Doctor” London, “Gunner” Mabry, “First Mate” Baho and a 3-run double from “Quartermaster” Lawrence, giving the Marauders a 7-1 lead. A lead that will increase in the bottom of the 3rd, thanks to a rbi double from “The Doctor” London to establish an 8-1 score after 3 innings.

Fast forward to the bottom of the 5th, Marauders will launch its final attack of the day, this time a 4-bullet impact thanks to a 2-rbi double from “Dale Plomo” Manjarrez, which gave the crew a 12-1 lead that was wrapped up in the top of the 7th thanks to a collective team gold glove defensive that allowed only 1 run in the entire game as well as a marvelous pitching gem from “Quartermaster” Lawrence, giving the Marauders it’s 3rd win of the season, the first sweep and winning streak of the season, which made the Cap’n (a big Sinatra fan) start ‘a capella’ test of his voice by chanting “Singing on the rain, what a glorious day"!

Notable Filibusters:

  • Filibuster of the week – Scott “Quartermaster” Lawrence. 6/8, 4Rs, HR, 8RBI’s and a 4.50 ERA in 14 innings!
  • Alan “The Doctor” London. 4/5, 2Rs, 2B, BB, RBI
  • Jose “First Mate” Baho. 5/7, R, 3 2B, 3B, 2 RBI’s
  • Tommy “2 Guns” Apligian. 3/5, 4Rs, 2BB, 2RBI’s

Next week will face a major challenge, as for the first time in the season, we will need to defend a winning streak, and against our division leader, the mighty Garber Grasshoppers to then face a potential mini’s rival, the Silverman Rangers
