Sunday was the second straight week that we would not have played if we were still playing in Plano. Yeaaa for our new fields! First up for the Mariners were the Tacos. The Tacos opened with 3 and Ryan Driggers responded with a two run blast. Two more in the second on a Jon Simonson dinger gave the Mariners a 4-3 lead. The Mariner defense weakened in the third allowing 4 Taco runs. Again, the Mariners responded with an RBI triple from Troy Steele and RBI singles from Kyle Crouse and Robbie Franklin to knot it at 7. After a scoreless 4th, we came to the 5th and final inning. The Tacos again scored 4 to take an 11-7 lead. Ryan Driggers hit another 2 run homer. With 2 outs, Jon Simonson, John Miller and Tommy Baer all produced RBI singles to give the Mariners another exciting come from behind victory 12-11.

Muck’s Rubber Ducks were up next who had defeated us 5 weeks earlier. The Mariners exploded in the top of the first with 12. The big hits were a Driggers 3 run blast, a solo from Troy Steele, a two run single from Tommy Baer and a grand slam from Ben Collincini. This is the season’s 5th Mariner grand slam from the leadoff position, an obvious misuse of resources by the Captain but well appreciated nonetheless. A testament to the bottom of the order getting on base. The Mariners scored every inning limiting the Ducks to 4 runs in the third to run rule the Quackers 19-4. Five straight wins for the Mariners move them into a tie for second with the Tacos.

Ryan Driggers was the star with 5-7, a double and 4 HR’s, 4 runs, 11 RBI’s. Tim Jamieson followed up on his POW designation with another sterling 6-7 performance. Kyle Crouse was 4-5, Troy Steele and Ben Collincini 4-7, Robbie Franklin 3-5, Jon Simonson 3-6, Dustin Madlock 2-4 and Eddie Tann on base 4 of 5 times.
