Stros Steal Another; Continue to Play With Fire

For the second consecutive week, we flirted with disaster and had to stage a last inning rally to steal a win.  Last week saw two walk off wins after going into the 7th inning down 3 and 4 runs.  This week it was only one seventh inning deficit to overcome.

Game 1 @ Prim's Brewers

This one was the classic "trap" game.  The big matchup with the Colt 45's was on the Horizon, but we had to first deal with the reigning champ Prims.  We came out and ended this one early after taking an 8-1 lead after two innings.  We would add on another 6 in the 4th to put it away and cruise to a 16-4 win.  Enlow , Reed and Eusay hit 2 homers each to do the heavy lifting and Burke shut down the Brewer bats.  Turbo Golden continued his torrid hitting this season with a perfect 3 for 3 game.  Kid is on FIRE.

Game 2 @ Hauf's Colt .45's

We had payback on our mind after dropping our first matchup with them in close fashion.  Back to Back bombs by Reed and Eusay in the first grabbed us an early lead, but the Colt's got 2 back quickly.  We stretched is out 6-2 with another 3 spot in the third.  A big 4th inning rally for Hauf's squad got them a one run lead and had us on our heels.  The bottom of the sixth showed everything this team is about and why we are where we are.  The Colt's battled to take the lead 10-9 with about a minute remaining in the game as the home team and two outs.  Jeremy Pease was up to bat and hit a foul out of play to RF.  Heads up play #1 was by Turbo Golden sprinting back to the scoreboard control to grab a new game ball and get it back to Burke quickly.  The next pitch saw a ball twisting foul down the first base line with Michael Bourque making a valiant diving attempt to catch but coming up short.  The ball bounced towards the right field corner and was ruled foul with about 30 seconds remaining.  Heads up play #2 then happens.  With Bourque laying on the turf and Chappy standing there admiring him, Alfredo Sardi alertly sprints to the right field corner to retrieve the ball and get it back to Burke with less than 15 seconds remaining.  Needing a strike, Burke placed it perfectly, forcing a swing from Pease and inducing a ground out with less than ten seconds to play.  Never giving up and constantly grinding is what this team is about.  We would come up in the top of the 7th trailing by 1 and Turbo leading off.  Two fielding miscues from the Colts put the go ahead run on first with no outs and Reed at the plate.  Hauf elects to pitch around him and face Eusay who hits homer number five of the day, a grand slam to give us a 3 run lead.  A few more hits added on and we carried a 5 run lead into the bottom of the 7th.  Burke slammed the door shut and we sneaked out with a victory.  The magic number to clinch the division now stands at 1 with 4 games remaining.  Amazing team win as these guys just find ways to win close games.

John Burke was out IPOW going 8-8 and pitching amazing all day.
