Red Sox sweep still hunting for a playoff spot

The Red Sox hosted the Rubber Ducks of Derek Muck and The Bats of the Buhrow clan in reprisals of opening weekend.

The Ducks scored 4 in the top of the 1st and the Sox answered on a 2 run HR from Brian Babbitt.  Neither scored over the next 1 1/2 innings and the Sox still trailed 4-2 going to the home half of the 3rd inning.  Greg "Badger" Hurst ignited a 6 run outburst with a leadoff 2B followed by the 1st of Darryl Drake's HRs, a Babbitt walk, Tim Kaminski hit and a Brad Parr hit loaded the bases with no outs. Brian Smallwood and Brad Cox hit consecutive SFs and Kyle Casper capped the inning with the 1st of his 2 HRs for an 8=4 lead. The Ducks were again kept off the board and the Sox clinched the win with 9 runs in the home 4th initiated by leadoff hits from Sean Hargrove and Matt Casey, then a run scoring hit by Badger, a 3 run blast from Drake,  a solo HR from Babbitt (his 2nd), and a 2 run blast from Parr and finally a 2 run blast from Kyle.  The Ducks fought back and scored 7 runs in the final inning until Babbitt recorded a 1 pitch save with the bases loaded.

Game 2 saw the Bats, fresh off an 18-4 win, score 1 in the top of the 1st. The Sox rolled out of their devastating innings in the home 1st for a 14-1 lead.  Badger started it with a 1B, a Drake BB, a Babbitt single and a grand slam for repeat Impact POW Kaminski. Parr singled and after the 1st out, a procession of walks to Cox, Kyle, Wayne, and a run scoring hit from Jody Beasley led to a pitching change. The Sox continued with a bases loaded walk to Hargrove, hit from Casey, 2 run single by badger, a SF from Drake and culminated with a 3 run HR again from Kaminski.  The Bats scored 7 in the top of the 2nd to trim the lead to 14-8. The Sox were quiet in the 2nd and 3rd but added 4 in the home 4th featuring Kaminski's 3 run blast and as run scoring hit from Kyle and an 18-8 lead. The Sox answered 1 for the Bats with 6 in the home 5th for a 24-9 win. The final 6 runs included a grand slam from Drake, a solo HR from Babbitt and a run producing 2B from Cox.
