The Flying Squirrels were not flying high coming into Sunday sporting a 3 game losing streak. Game 1 was against the high- flying Dlott’s Dragons. The visiting Squirrels netted 3 in the first with RBI’s from Brian Ortega and Troy Steele. The Squirrels had a big inning in the third with two RBI’s from Brian Ortega and RBI’s from Randy Ransom, Ming Tsai and John Miller to open an 8-4 lead. The Dragons showed consistency from top to bottom scoring in every inning but built a lead in the 4th scoring 5 to take an 11-8 lead. The 5th was the final inning and the first 5 Squirrels reached base scoring two but couldn’t push anymore across as the Dragons ran out the clock for an 11-10 win.

Game 2 against Banta’s Blue Rocks saw the Squirrels start their scoring in the second with RBI singles from Ming Tsai and Tommy Baer and a two run double from John Miller. The Squirrels held a slim 5-4 lead heading to the 5th when the Rocks broke loose for 5. The Squirrels could only manage a solo blast from Brian Ortega over the last 3 innings and went down to defeat 11-6.

Management is looking to a leadership change bringing in Brian Ortega to run the squad next week and is confident of a turn around.

Impact Players of the week were Troy Steele 5-6, 2 runs 2 RBI’s, Randy Ransom 4-6, 3 runs, 1 RBI and Dustin Madlock 2-3 with a double and a walk.
