Game 1

SC – 13

TC - 14

Who is that Chris Cesario guy anyway and how did he go that late in the 1st round?!?!?! I don’t know his stat line for sure, but I believe I saw 3 3 run HR’s and Hauf was pitching in places no one should hit a HR from. Honestly impressive and hats off to Chris for an unbelievable game at the plate!

As the Storm Chasers have done quite often, we got out to an early lead scoring 4 over the first 3 innings while holding the Tin Caps in check. However, as stated above Chris’s next 2 at bats put some runs on the board while the Storm Chasers put up consistent runs over the 6 innings played before time expired and we would up in a 11-11 tie. With the good guys up to bat first playing 1 pitch ball Tony Lowery led off from the bottom of the lineup with a clutch walk before Pease and Brumley both tried to ruin it by both getting out. The Luke who struggled at bat for the first time of the fall early in the game stepped up and hit a 2-run bomb to put the good guys up 13-11 going into the bottom half of the extra time inning. 1 down and 2 on Chris steps back up yet again. As instructed by his coach Hauf did exactly what was asked and put it high and outside, yet Chris didn’t care as he was in the zone and crushed the 3-run walk off HR in true Shalom fashion. Great game Tin Caps, our caps off to you!

Brum 2-3 with a HR a walk and 3 RBI

Matt 2-3 with a Grand Slam, a SAC and 5 RBI

Mitchell 2-3 with 1 RBI

Game 2

SC – 8

AGS – 9

As in game 1 the Storm Chasers got out to an early lead after the Aguilas lineup failed to score in the first 2 innings thanks to great pitching by Hauf with solid defense behind him. It was only 2-0 though after 2 so we knew that wasn’t going to stand. As expected, the top of the Aguilas lineup got their groove back in the 3rd with a bomb by the captain and great hitting up and down the lineup to go up 5-2. The Chasers put up a 2 spot in the bottom of the inning pulling it back to 5-4 after 3.

Both teams went scoreless in the 4th and the Storm Chasers held the Visitors to another 0 spot in the top of the 5th before Luke Morgan crushed a grand slam in the bottom of the 5th to put the good guys back up 8-5. The Aguilas put up a 2 spot in the 6th and the 7th which meant all the Storm Chasers needed was an average of 1 run per inning to pull out the W unfortunately, we were all out of steam and as you saw in the score highlight above, we dropped our second of the day. Well played Aguilas, you guys have a great squad!

Offensive highlights though few this game, the following stand out:

Luke came back strong going 3-3 in this game with a single and 2 bombs including a GS with 5 RBI

Matt Hyson continued his hot day going 3-3 with 2 singles and a double

Nick Croce with a solid game going 2-3 hitting 2 lasers with 1 RBI

Impact Players of the Week:

Matt Hyson – 5-6 1 double, 1 Grand Slam and a SAC leading to 10 RBI driving in half our runs for the day

Mitchell Zimmerman – 3-6 1 RBI and always making it look easy with his swing while great shift leadership in the outfield

Nick Croce – 2-6 1 RBI Hitting lasers in a great second game
