Millers Flying Squirrels Vs. Rodriguez’s Aguilas

Location: 10:20am Spirit Park, Allen TX

On this beautiful Sunday morning, something in the Aguilas dugout was brewing in the atmosphere as the battle of “King of the Skies” was about to begin. With the absence of Squirrel King Miller, the Squirrel Kingdom led by Brian Ortega struck swiftly with 2 runs in the top of the 1st. The Aguilas artillery was firing on all cylinders up and down the lineup today, starting with 3 solo HRs to take the lead at the bottom of the 1st with Super Sub Oswald Abarca, La Gran Bebida Driggers and Capt. Sh0tz. The top of the second inning goes great for the defensive Aguilas as the Squirrels are held without a nut. Second chance around the Aguilas, led off by Dan “The Man” Feldman rips a TRIPLE to start the bottom of the second. Freddy “El Mikiti” Barraez rips a hit bringing in Dan.  Kelly “Flash” Welton rips and claws another hit. Pablito “Miles” Villarroel, out of the 12 spot, gets into a SAC to score another run – mission accomplished as leadoff superstar Brian “So Good” Osgood fires a double to grab some ribbies as Super Sub Oswald says, “Why not 2 eh?” and Hits ANOTHER HR to add some punctuation to the 2nd inning.

Top of the 3rd and the Squirrels gave us something to talk about with a 5 run response making the score 8-7 Aguilas. Bottom of the 3rd and La Gran Bebida Driggers is feeling it, another solo shot over the mesh in LCF that with so much hang time Michael Jordan would be jealous.  Matt “The Attack'' Myers rips a single, Johnny “Be Good” Manjarrez punishes the pitcher with a walk, Dan “The Man” Rips another hit to bring in Myers. The 4th inning is an intermission for both squads as the squirrels score 2 at the top of the 5th. Here come the Big Birds. Bottom of the 5th, Max “Big Country” Henry, starts some Magic and boy was it contagious. Back-to-Back TO BACK HRs for Max, Driggers and Capt. Sh0tz. Squirrels have no wrath for these Eagles Fury as the Aguilas add 1 more run on a triple from Kelly “Flash” Welton and RBI hit to end the game from Pablito “Miles” Villarroel. The Aguilas win this battle still salivating for game 2.

Rodriguez’s Aguilas Vs. Sardi’s Tiburones

Location: 11:30am Spirit Park, Allen TX

Game 2 started as the sequel to Game 1 as the Aguilas took to the beach in search of some Shark Fin Soup and Sushi. With the Tiburones having Home Field advantage, the Aguilas knew they had to sharpen their claws for this one; and what a battle it was.

Rapid Start as the Aguilas Lead off Super star Brian Osgood starts things off with a hit, followed by an Abarca walk, an RBi bullet by Max Henry and a 3 run shot to test the mesh again by Ryan Driggers. 4 runs to start the 1st, and here come the Tiburones. Bottom of the 1st and the fish score 4 to tie it (play by play removed to allow captain Sardi some indulgence) ;). Aguilas commenced attacking in the 2nd with Flash, Swank and Pablito all reaching base safely, turning it up for an Osgood hit, followed by an RBI hit by Abarca. Max Henry gets into one for a 2 RBI double, and here comes the “Gran Bebida” Driggers with his 2nd 3-RBI shot of the game followed by a speedy Capt Sh0tz double to center field to get the Aguilas a 10-4 lead before heading into the bottom of the 2nd. The Tiburones answer back with some bang-bang in a can response good for 5 to end the inning 10-9.

Top of the 3rd and it’s been nonstop scoring by both teams as the Aguilas continue the onslaught with a double to RF by Freddy, a walk by Flash and a hit by Swank to load the bases for an RBI FC for Pablito, a SAC for Osgood, good for 2 more as that’s the highlight of the 3rd with the Tiburones swallowing a rubber tire deep in the ocean in the same inning scoring nothing but seaweed. Top of the 4th and the Aguilas’ Max Henry opens with a solo moonshot to continue the Flying Ball holiday, followed by a Driggers Triple and an RBI hit by the Capt. Bottom of the 5th and the Tiburones do all they can to play catch up and tie the game at 14 a piece as the Aguilas shut it down. Top of the 6th and the Aguilas show zero signs of quitting. These relentless birds embodied the majestic species all day today and started the top of the 6th with a hit by Flash, with 2 outs- a walk by Osgood, an RBI hit by Abarca, and the trio of fireworks does it again Back-to-back-to-BACK! Henry, Driggers, Rodriguez smash 3 HRs to seal the game as the Tiburones sink quietly in the bottom of the 6th to the ocean floor. Aguilas take this majestic battle of the Kings of Air and Sea to the Books!
