These Ducks wear short shorts

In celebration of a a certain short short wearing Duck's birthday, this last Sunday featured yet another interesting day of apparel on the ball filed.  Thank goodness for no clothing malfunctions.

Game 1- Ducks 15, Leones 20

The early game started off with some excitement as the 2nd inning saw a combined 21 runs scored.  The away Ducks got things rolling in the top half, putting up 11 of those runs.  The biggest highlight was watching the birthday boy Pete Salazar hit an absolute bomb with the bases full.  Not a bad way to celebrate if you ask me.  Unfortunately for these Ducks, the Leones answered back in the bottom half with 10 runs of their own.  The Leones bats must have been blessed with holy water, as it seemed that every swing resulted in a single that was well placed and allowed them to continue to turn the roster over and over.   Hats off to their entire squad as they went 26 for 36 in the game.

Game 2 - Trash Panda's 6, Ducks 8

The Ducks started the game hot once again, putting up 7 runs early on.  Both defenses took over after that and the pitching from both teams had things on lock down.  The Ducks defense was ultimately the deciding factor, with some outstanding play from LCF Sam Cassell and 2B Kelly Stites.

At the halfway mark of the season, the Ducks sit right in the thick of things with a .500 record.  These ballplayers are never out of a ballgame, and they love to score runs in bunches.  As division play kicks off, it will be very interesting to see how things shake out.

Ducks of the week:

Jason Niswonger - 4/6, triple, HR, 3 RBI

Kelly Stites - 5/6, 2 RBI, excellent defense at 2nd base

JC Burks - 4/6, 1 RBI, 3 runs scored

Honorable mentions:

Sean Harcourt - played stout defense in RF, and had a huge impact at the plate with his 2 hits going for extra bases and driving in 3 runs.

Pete Salazar - Grand Slams are fun, birthday Grand Slams are funner!
