Game 1

CANNON BALLERS - 15

Storm Chasers - 14

The Cannon Ballers arrived at the park on this crisp fall morning ready to chase the storm off field 4. The Baller offense came out of the gate like a typhoon, with five straight singles (Cuddles, Big Lee, Ryno, Baby Jay, and Simo) with the final hit by John ‘Simo’ Simonson driving in the fourth and fifth runs of the at bat. After a quiet 2nd, the Ballers got the tidal wave rolling again by putting up another four runs. Speedy Dylan Buhrow led off with a double and made it to third with excellent base running. Cuddles drove him in with a deep sac fly (Cuddles needs to hit the gym), then singles by Big Lee and Ryno set up Baby Jay, and he delivered with a clutch two RBI single. Meanwhile, the Storm Chaser offense was just as active, putting up runs and keeping this game tight throughout. The Ballers put up another two runs in the 5th, with Big Lee and Ryno driving in Dylan and Cuddles with key hits. With the game tied at 11, the Storm Chasers came up first in one pitch extras and delivered a gritty three runs to take a 11-14 lead. With the game on the line, the Baller offense was not to be denied. With one out, C Bass crushed a triple to get the tsunami rolling. Young Dylan Buhrow drove him in with a clutch single, followed by a single by Cuddles and a key walk by Big Lee McDonald. Ryno then hit a clutch sac fly that scored Dylan and allowed the old farts (Cuddles and Lee) to advance to third and second. With two outs and the winning run on second, the Chasers intentionally walked the hot hitting Baby Jay to load the bases. With electricity in the air, up stepped Hurricane Simo with the game on the line. The pitch was a strike, and Simo walked it off with a hard grounder between third and short!!!

John ‘Simo’ Simonson – 2 for 4, 4 RBIs, 1 run scored (WALK OFF SINGLE!!!)

Dylan Buhrow – 3 for 4, triple, RBI, 3 runs scored

Ryno Alford – 3 for 3, double, sac fly, 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored

Baby Jay Buhrow – 2 for 3, double, BB, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored

Game 2

Cannon Ballers - 12

Empire 66er’s - 5

The Cannon Ballers looked to keep the momentum going in game two by cruising down Route 66 with the top down, gloves out, and bats up. The Baller offense didn’t skip a beat and came out hot with a five spot in their first at bat. Dylan Buhrow and Cuddles got on base (single and a walk) and set the table for the bacon man. Ryno delivered with a three-run blast to stake the Ballers to a lead that they would never relinquish. Baby Jay and John ‘Simo’ Simonson then started it back up with back-to-back singles and were then driven in by Captain Keg Dyer and Brinkman (single and sac fly). Ace Lee McDonald was on point and held a solid 66er offense in check for the entire game. The Baller offense did not let up and put up another four runs in the 2nd. Brian ‘Chatty’ Conn, C Bass, and Dylan B started the at bat with back-to-back-to-back singles, followed by a two RBI right field chalk shot double by Cuddles, that would have made the likes of Badger and Peasy happy. Big Lee McDonald then drove in Dylan and Cuddles with a clutch two-bagger to cap the inning. The highlight of the Baller’s third at bat was an oxygen mask-inducing hammered triple to deep right field by Captain Keg Dyer (yes, he made it to 3B and standing up no less). He was driven in by a nice sac fly from early riser Gumaro Castillo and the Ballers had it on cruise control.

Captain Keg Dyer – 2 for 3, TRIPLE, double, RBI, run scored

Baby Jay Buhrow – 3 for 3, RBI, run scored

Ryno Alford – 3 for 3, HR, 4 RBIs, run scores, and outstanding defense at SS

Gumaro Castillo – 1 for 2, sac fly, RBI

Baby Jay Buhrow – 5 for 6, double, four singles, BB, 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored
