On the outside of the Fall Playoff picture the Corny Dogs defeated the Rubber Ducks in a must win affair 21-8. The Dogs busted out the big sticks for this one amassing 22 hits including 10 that went for extras bases. Pitcher Brad Parr led the way going 4-4 with 6 RBIs and a HR. Miguel Duron and Taylor Abrego each chipped in with a dinger of their own. The captains of the “softball team on a stick™” combined to go 6-8 with three doubles, including a line drive down the line off the bat of Nick Barr that appeared to be headed foul. Ducks Gold Glover Pete Salazar took chase only to see the ball make a right turn leaving him badly out of position to make a play. Newly left handed Tommy Apligian reached three times as the Dogs rolled to the victory.

Game 2 against the Cannon Ballers proved to be an offensive struggle. The stiff wind and solid pitching from Ballers ace Lee McDonald kept the big bats silent as the Dogs fell 10-5. Leadoff hitter Tony Macaluso was the only player with multiple hits as the Corny Dogs failed to make up further ground in the playoff chase.

With the final week of the season upon us the Corny Dogs are still searching for that elusive sweep and will face the tough task of doing so with a double header against the Flying Squirrels. The Dogs will need some help to get into the tournament, but are looking forward to the challenge.

Wieners of the Week:
Brad Parr 5-7 8 RBI and a HR
Tommy Appligian 3-5 2 RBI BB while batting lefty and playing great defense and leadership
