Storm - 11

It was a very hot late morning start coming off a bye week and for the second week in a row our clean-up hitter was very late to the ballpark missing another full inning because he though it was Saturday. This led to a very slow start for the Storm Chasers who failed to score in the first 3 innings while giving up 6 thanks to a 3-run bomb in the third by one Chris Cesario and 3 other runs scattered over each of those 3 innings.

The Storm Chasers broke up the no hitter in the fourth inning after Brumley sat down the first 10 Storm Chasers in a row when Jerry Rogers found the whole between SS and 3B for a single. Then that clean-up hitter (Dalton) moved to the 12-spot followed up with a single and BY hit another single. Bases loaded 1 out Peasey hit a Sac Fly to score Jerry and A-Aron Holmes singled to score Dalton. The Storm Chasers would hold the Storm to 0 in the bottom of the 4th which had the game close at 6-2 after 4.

The Storm Chasers would then make it 6-4 scoring 2 more times in the 5th inning with runs by Banta and Andy Wetterlin both driven in by Ethan Barath. Unfortunately the Storm would come back and score 3 in the bottom of the 5th to stretch the lead back to 9-4 and after the Storm Chasers went down quietly with no runs in the top of the 6th the Storm would run out the clock after scoring 2 runs to win the game 11-4.

Game 2

Rangers – 7

Game 2 was a very different game where the Storm Chasers jumped out early on the Rangers, but just couldn’t hold on in the end. The Storm Chasers would do to the Rangers what the Storm did to the Storm Chasers in Game 1 where we held them scoreless through 3 innings. We would score 5 runs in those 3 innings with 4 in the first inning on runs scored by BY, Dalton, JT and Banta with RBI’s by Peasey, JT, Banta and Andy. 1 run was scored by Ethan in the second inning on an RBI by Jerry Rogers. This put the game at 5-0 after 3.

The 4th inning would change the game when the Rangers would put up 5 runs in the top of the inning and the Storm Chasers put up only 1 on a run by Andy driven in by Ethan to keep a 6-5 lead after 4. Both teams would go scoreless in the 5th even with the top of their order stranding runners at second and third with only 1 out.

This took us to the top of the 6th where it was clear based on time that this would be the last inning of the game. The Rangers had the top of the lineup up to bat and with 1 runner on the commissioner himself stepped to the plate and delivered a 2-run bomb to RCF that would wind up being the winning runs putting the Rangers up 7-6. Those would be the only runs of the inning, but again they were enough as the Storm Chasers 5,6,7 batters went 1,2,3 in the bottom of the inning to lose a close one to the Rangers in 6. Kudos to the Rangers for pulling of the gutty come back!
