Royals Lose Two One-Run Games...Again

For the fifth and sixth times this season, the Royals lost a game by one run.  In both games, they carried a one-run lead into the last inning, only to relinquish it, falling to Eusay's Saints 15 - 14, and Buhrow's Mint Juleps 14 - 13.  Today's common denominator was just sloppy defense, too many errors, and throwing to the wrong base, allowing runners to move up into scoring position in critical situations.

Nevertheless, the Royals' offense was consistent throughout the day as they scored 27 runs and pounded out 33 hits, including four homeruns.  Before today's doubleheader the only Royals to go yard were Ryan Richardson and Matt Hyson.  Today, Adam Schor and Adriano Rodriguez joined the party, with Rodriguez going yard in the first game, knocking in five, and Schor going yard in the second game, driving in three.

Injuries have played a considerable role in our season.  By the time the regular season ends next Sunday, the 12 Royals drafted in January will have not taken the field together for a single game.  Not one.  That may change on June 5th...
