Blackbirds Sing a Song of Sixpence

Immediately after Sunday's games, in a mid-season rebranding ordered by the home office in Poughkeepsie, the team formerly known as the Monarchs changed its name to the Blackbirds. Fittingly so, as after this weeks' games, the four and twenty Blackbirds were left with a pocket full of rye.

The first game was against the Alexander Trash Pandas.  After one inning, the TPs were up 10-1 (which the Spirit Park scoreboard made look like a Blackbirds 1-0 lead).  From there, the Blackbirds fought back to make it a game, before getting baked in a pie, 19-13.

The second game was against the barely recognizable Dyer Straits (due to a multitude of subs), who got their hits for nothin' and their runs for free, strumming their way to a 19-12 victory.

With one week left in the Regular Season, the Blackbirds, who long ago clinched a spot in the playoffs - the mini playoffs, are loose as a goose and dreaming of future success on a wing and a prayer.

Blackbirds Impact POW/ROW: David Fiorello - 6 for 8, 3 RS, 4 RBI with 3 Triples, all while playing flawless, spectacular defense at short.
