Game 1

SC – 4

Padres – 7

This was not a game where we showed what we were capable of and missing out 1 & 3 definitely hurt. El capitan scratched out the only run in the top of the 1st inning on an RBI by Super Sub Jake White. The nice part was we held the Padres to a single run in the bottom of the 1st to keep things tied up after 1. The in the 2nd inning the Storm Chasers took the lead on runs scored by Banta and Taylor Guzman that were drove in on a triple by Ethan Barath who ran through a stop sign at third to get thrown out easily at home. However, we held the bad guys to 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, so it was 3-2 good guys after 2.

The lineup then went silent as the Storm Chasers put up 0 runs over the next 4 innings. The Padres only score 5 runs over those 4 innings which normally would be a good thing, but obviously putting up 0 over those same 4 led to the Chaser’s chasing after 6 down 7-3. With the first 2 batters getting on and the first runner scoring there was some momentum with the game only 3 runs apart and 2 runners on with 2 outs when Dustin popped a ball up to left field foul over Braun’s head, but he made a Willie May’s basket catch on a full sprint to end the game. I feel for those who have to play these Padres in the minis, definitely a solid team all around!

Offensive highlights for the game (not many with only 7 hits!):

Banta – 2-3 with 1 Single, 1 Double and 1 RS

Ethan Barath – 1-3 with 1 Triple and 2 RBI

Game 2

SC – 10

Iron Pigs – 16

The second game was very different we were putting up runs every inning and leading the game until the last inning where the Pigs made a killer run to score 8 and put the Chasers away. The Pigs put up 3 in the top of the first and once again Peasey scored the solo Chaser’s run in the bottom of the first on an RBI by Dalton Underwood. The good guys would hold the Pigs to a 0 spot in the top of the 2nd and score 2 in the bottom of the inning as Banta and Grayson scored on another in the park HR by Grayson, his second in the last 2 weeks as he is coming on strong at the end of the season getting hot for the minis.

Now that things were tied back up at 3 after 2 the Pigs would score 2 more in the top of the 3rd inning only to watch the Storm Chasers score 4 in the inning on a Grand Slam no doubt fence bomb by super sub Jake White scoring him, Dalton, Andy and Peasey to take a 7-5 lead after 3. The Chasers would hold the Pigs to 0 gain in the top of the 4th and would scrape out 1 more run by Ethan Barath after he got on with a triple and was driven in on a Dustin Madlock single. The Pigs would add 2 more in the 5th and the Storm Chasers would add 1 more on a Han Solo fence bomb by super sub Jake White to move the lead to 9-7 after 5.

The Pigs would score 1 in the top of the 6th and leave 4 minutes for the Chasers to kill, but after it looked possible that we could kill the clock after the first 2 batters got on, the next 3 got out in order to force a 7th inning with only 50 seconds left on the clock. That is when we wish we had a redo as the Pigs reeled off 8 runs and though Peasey hit his first fence bomb of the season after calling his shot to lead off the bottom of the inning, it was futile as that was the only run scored and the Storm Chasers lost 16-10. We are ready though to hit the minis and show what we are capable of next week, let’s go Storm Chasers!!!
