The Dragons were up with the sunrise to get the season started against the Rubber Ducks. We were the home team and took the field first behind Scott Greenberg on the mound. We got off to a slow start because the wind made it hard to throw strikes which would be a big difference maker in the game. We gave up 5 in the first after a Justin Reed homer. We would respond in the bottom of the inning with BY getting it started with a single to get his amazing day at the plate started. We had 2 on for a Hyson double to get our first run across and then after the second out with only 1 across still the next 9 hitters reached based via singles and some clutch walks as we put up 9 in the first to steal the momentum back and never let up. Greenberg's great pitching and some great defense behind them held their great lineup in check the rest of the game. Our lineup stayed hot with patience to wait for their pitch and drive it for a single or to draw the walk as we had 8 walks in the game. In the 4th and final inning Richardson got his redemption for flying out with the bases loaded earlier hitting a grand slam to put the game out of reach for good. Final score 22-11

Key players

BY 4-4 2 rbis and great play at SS

Ray Darragh 2-2 with walk and 2 rbis

Stan Thomas 2-2 with walk and 4 rbis

Dwayne Henson with 3 clutch walks to keep the lineup going

We headed to field 2 for the 2nd game knowing we had a tough game and weren't done for the day yet. We got it started with a BY single but nothing came of it after a great catch by Cesario to bring a Richardson home run back and take 2 runs off the board. The Bulls got a single as well but the first of 2 scott lawrence double plays turned killed their momentum for the inning.  The Dragons started off with bases loaded after singles from Zak, Donnie Holtman and Ryan Greenberg

It would sputter out though as we only scored one in the inning. Great pitching and defense was the story early on with it tied at 1 going into the 4th inning when the dragons bats came back alive with Stan getting it started and flipping the lineup to setup 6 consecutive singles before a Scott Greenberg double and a Donnie Holtmann double got us 6 runs before we had an out. We would go on to put up 9 runs in the inning to take a commanding lead. We would give up 4 runs in the next couple of innings which made it 10-5 going into the 7th before Richardson added his 3rd home run on the day to make it 12-5 and the defense went back and locked it down in the bottom half to complete the sweep on opening weekend.
