Blue Rocks 12 Bulls 13

Mr. Burk’s Bulls came to visit the Blue Rocks on field 1 to start week 2 of the fall season.  The Blue Rocks started with a jumbled outfield because of an over served, late night for a future Banta son in law, and it helped the Bulls score 3 runs in the top of the first.  The Bulls were only able to turn 2 double plays in this game, something that is becoming a bit of a staple for this infield. Tim Crites had a great game going 3 for 3, scoring 3 runs, and making a great catch down the right field line to slow down a Bulls rally in the 5th.  Also of note, was a great play on a line drive to centerfield, where Dalton fired to Luke, who fired to Ozzie, and got the out to end another Bulls threat.  The game was tied in the bottom of the 6th, and the Blue Rocks had the bases loaded with the winning run at third base and nobody out.  The third base coach decided to try to tag up a speedy, but not VERY speedy Ozzie on a fly ball to left field, but the Bulls made a great relay and doubled up Ozzie trying to score.  The game went to extra innings, where the Bulls took a 2 run lead on a very wind aided pop fly from the Commissioner.  The Blue Rocks had a chance in the end, but a very crafty Brumley pitched his way out of a bases loaded jam again.

Blue Rocks 11 Ducks 5

The Blue Rocks then went to visit Mucks Ducks, who I think may have had more subs than actual Ducks.  Simonson made a great play at first base to get the unassisted out to stifle a Duck rally early in the game, which helped this writer forget about his 0 for 7 day at the plate...Mr. Banta, who 0 for 1 in this game with a couple walks, had the pleasure of making not 1, but 2 outs in the second inning on the bath paths.  He did make up for it with a great sliding catch to rob a very talkative Duck a couple of innings later.  Dustin Bone was robbed of a 3 rbi at bat when he had a shot bounce over the fence in right center for a ground rule double.  The defense played great in this one, with 80% of the Ducks runs coming on 1 swing from a noticeably quiet Justin Reed.

Blue Rocks Players of the week:
