Mighty Mussels – 9 vs. Dragons – 6

Another Shalom Sunday, another sleepless night.  Luckily for this rookie captain his team came in prepared to enter the Dragon(s).

The Mighty Mussels came out strong in the top of the 1st.  Singles by Reese Leonard and Donald Prim set up a 3 run no doubter fence bomb by B-Rad Earls.  A Danny Cortez double and Nick “Boom Boom” Croce single later put us up 4-0.

Dlott’s Dragons came out spitting that hot fire as well with 4 runs of their own highlighted by a Ryan Richardson missile of a bomb.

The start of this game made it seem as this would be a shootout, but both teams cooled off significantly as the Dragons headed into the 6th and final inning up 5-4.

Just when things were looking bleak, Brooke “Steel Balls” Prim stepped up to the plate and smacked a leadoff single which seemed to be Mighty contagious.  RBI singles by D Prim, Earls, Cortez, Croce, and Santiago would follow to put the Mussels up 9-5.

The Dragons would plate one more in the bottom of the 6th, but that would be it as the Mighty Mussels were able to extinguish a red hot Dlott's Dragons team with a 9-6 victory.

Tarpons – 11 vs Mighty Mussels – 3

Coming off a huge victory against Dlott’s Dragons, the Mighty Mussels were feeling the flow heading into game 2 against the Tarpons.

Apligian’s Tarpons, fresh off soaking up their first win of the season, put up a 2 spot in the top of the 1st to which these Mussels had no answer.  It was very clear that the Tampons were out for blood in the 2nd inning because they precisely hit every open hole in the Mussels outfield, which stretched the lead out to 6 or 8-0.

The Mussels would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd via Danny Cortez RBI single and Nick Croce fielder’s choice and one via Big Game James sac fly in the bottom of the 5th, but that would be all the offense we could muster in this one.

Captain Tommy Apligian’s squad can Tampax a very good punch and it showed as they won the game 11-3.
