On a very hot, very humid summer morning…oh, wait…wait…I mean fall morning, the Dragons squared off against Knox’s Cyclones on field 2.  The home team Dragons played stingy defense and it started early, yielding just 1 run to the top of the Cyclones order.  In the home half of the first, Brandon Yamauchi laced a single to get things started.  Clint Hathcock followed with another single, then Ryan Richardson plated BY with a double.  Matt Hyson added an RBI single, leaving Scott Greenberg with two on and no outs.  With the right side drawn in, Greenberg launched one to right field for a gimpy two-RBI triple.  Zak Edgerton followed with a sac fly that scored Greeny and the Dragons led 5-1.

The Cyclones were not going to go down easy.  They capitalized on a couple of Dragons errors and scored 6 in the top of the 2nd.  The Dragons responded with a leadoff Ray Darragh double followed by a Stan Thomas single.  BY stayed hot with an RBI double, before Ryan Richardson launched a 3-run homer to right field, 9-7 Dragons.

The Dragons tightened up their D and Greeny continued to throw darts as the Cyclones went scoreless for the next 5 innings.  The Dragons added on 3 more runs as Hyson, Ryan Greenberg and Darragh all picked up RBIs and the Dragons won their second game in a row, 12-7.

The win streak wouldn’t last much longer as the Dragons flew over to field 3 for game 2 versus Barr’s Corny Dogs.  Ryan Richardson’s solo blast was all the Dragons could muster in the top of the 1st.  The defense stayed hot as the Dogs had only 1 run after 3 innings and it was 5-1 heading to the bottom of the 4th.  The Corny Dogs got hot and plated 3.  Neither team scored in the 5th, but after 6 it was all tied up.

The Dragons went down quietly in their half of the 7th.  Ashley Mort led off the bottom half of the inning and took the first pitch over the left field fence for a walkoff homer!  He picked a great time for his first fall home run.  7-6 Corny Dogs
