Flying Squirrels get off the Schneid, then right back on it

Breaking news (from last week), the TSSL Flying Squirrels (0-4) opened the week winless, facing the undefeated Lachman Overdrive Royals (4-0) in a rematch from Week 1 (which the Royals prevailed, obviously, 18-6).  The Airborne Bushy Tailed Rats held the vaunted Royals to 1 run in the top of the first before soaring into the lead with a 7-spot in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by some timely hitting by nearly the entire lineup and some charitable fielding from the Royals.  The Soaring Rodents stretched the lead with 3 more in the bottom of the second, as the top three in the order (Dalton Underwood, Scott Chaddick and Brian Osgood) went 4 for 4 with 2 walks in those first two innings.  The Royals mounted a mini rally that ultimately fell short, resulting in the Flying Squirrels' first win of the year, 11-7.

The winning feeling carried over to the Nightcap against the Ruckelhead Bananas, as the visiting Squirrels jumped out to a 5-2 to lead after three innings.  The Bananas peeled away that lead by scoring 3 in the bottom of the fourth to knot things at 5.  A scoreless 4th set up some theatrics, as the Squirrels took the lead in the top of the 5th on a Sheldon Fulton sacrifice fly, scoring Zane Belyea.  Unfortunately, the Bananas delivered a split to the Squirrels by running out the clock with a crooked-number rally in the bottom of the inning.  Well, nuts.  The Squirrels ended their best week yet with a loss - but things are looking up.
