The TSSL Flying Squirrels sprung ahead of the Dlott to Love Dragons, leading 3-1 going into the bottom of the third on a windblown late morning tilt on the shortest day of the year. Unfortunately, the Dragons scorched the softball, putting up 5 in the bottom of the inning and seizing a 6-3 lead.  The teams traded a run apiece the rest of the way, as the Squirrels squandered a winnable game, 7-4.  Robert Santiago "Chile" was the hitting star, going 2 for 2 with a walk, in the defeat.

The Nightcap was against the Weinfeld/Strull in the Park Pirates. The Pirates unfurled their Jolly Jerry Roger(s) and took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.  Timely two-out hitting, sprinkled with three free passes, resulted in 8 runs scoring - huge in a game where the wind was howling in from left.  The Squirrels added a run in the bottom of the third on an Omar Ovalle "girl" inside-the-park homer - his first Shalom League homer.  Omar was clocked by a calendar getting around the bases, but was wind-aided as the a huge gust from the North on Field 1 helped propel him home from third.  Solid defense, particularly by Scott "Hanging" Chaddick, Tim "King" Jamieson and Sheldon "Steamboat" Fulton, contributed greatly to the victory.

For the first time this year, the Flying Squirrels scurried home a winner.
