Banta’s Blue Rocks provided the competition in game 1 of week 3 for the Yard Goats. The Goats were busy grazing while the Rocks opened with a 7 spot due to some defense that was solid the rest of the day. The Goats responded with 4 in the first thanks to an RBI single from Dustin Bone and a 3 run double from Mitch Klaassen. The Goats took a 9-7 lead in the second due to a two run single from Tony Lowery and a 3 run dinger from Drew Waggoner. The offense could only generate one run over the next 4 innings as the Goats went down 12-10.

Game 2 was against Greenberg’s Trash Pandas. The game was tied at 1 as we entered the third. Ron Roberts, Garreth Johnson and Tony Lowery all singled to load the bases. Scotty Do singled home 2, Drew doubled home 1, Ariel Rodriguez and Dustin Bone each knocked in another as the Goats took a 7-1 lead. Again, the offense stopped but the defense was tight producing a 7-4 much needed win for the Yard Goats.

Great Goats for this week were Drew Waggoner with 4-5, walk, double, homer, 3 runs, 4 RBI’s. Ariel Rodriguez 4-6, Garreth Johnson and Ro Gulhati were 3-5. At 3-6 were Scotty Do, Dustin Bone, Todd Dicken, and Robbie Franklin. Tony Lowery was 2-4. A special shout out to the defense led by the steady play of Scotty Do at shortstop.
