The Red Sox started at the A's with the wind blowing out with a high scoring game. The Sox plated 5 in the 1st, on POW Ben Collincini's lead off HR, hits from Jason Niswonger, Daryl Drake, 2 run 3B from ROW Troy Knudsen, run scoring 2B from POW Josh Winsor and rbi hit from Leo Quinones. The A's scored 7 in the home half and the Sox were down 2 after 1. In the 2nd, the Sox also plated 7 featuring hits from Doug Wolfe, POW Lacy Fenn, SF from Collincini, hit from Adam Schor, 3 run HR from Niswonger, and a 3 run HR from Winsor. The A's answered w 2 and the Sox lead 12-9. No one scored in the 3rd and the Sox added 6 in the top of the 4th featuring HRs from Niswonger, Drake, Winsor (2 run) and a 2 out 2 rbi hit from Collincini. The A's scored 2 in the home 4th, took the 3rd out and scored 2 in the top of the 5th as the Sox prevailed 18-13.
Game 2 was vs. the Rangers on field 4 w the wind blowing in. The Sox took a 4 run lead after 1 on a Schor run scoring 2B, Niswonger rbi hit, Drake run scoring 3B and a SF from Winsor. The Rangers had 1 in the 2nd and the Sox score 1 in the 4th on Quinones 3B and SF from Casper. The Sox added 2 in the 5th on rbi hit from Schor and SF from Niswonger but would stop at 7 for the game. The Sox played a wonderful 6 innings, but the Rangers feasted on generosity in the 7th for 6 runs and a tie and would win it in the 8th with more Sox largesse. The split was a painful reminder to play to the end and congrats to the rangers for doing that.
