Ducks Fly again, Coach caught laying down on the job

After the mysterious disappearance of yours truly, Around the Pond has returned this week to bring forth that sweet sweet Duck news you all have been craving for.

Game 1-  Legends 19, Ducks 11

With a new defensive alignment planned, the Ducks came out of the gate against a very tough Legends squad.  The right side of the field was staring right into the sun and the Ducks capitalized, putting up 8 runs in the first two innings of play.  The Legends would not be kept down though and they fought right back.  Ducks leadoff man and Shalom rookie Dominick "I'm the better looking one" Cesario continued his hot streak notching a single, triple, and HR in the game.  Not to be shown up by his brother, Shalom rookie Chris "I hit the ball farther" Cesario went yard twice, driving in 4 Ducks along the way.  Admirable performances were had by an injured Jason Niswonger, who went 2/3, Nick Croce, 2/3, and sub Matt Sturrock, who was 2/3 at the plate with excellent work in the outfield.  A highlight and lowlight managed to happen on the same play, Legends pitcher Jon Kilburn showed tremendous bat control by hitting the ball right into the glove of a fallen down Duck Captain and third baseman, but in doing so, injuring his hip.  He toughed out the pain, but this Duck wishes him a speedy recovery.

Game 2 - Ducks 23, Clowns 21

The Ducks were definitely mighty in this one, winning an extra inning nail biter.  The Ducks started strong with 5 in the first, highlighted by a Michael Thiele 2 run double, but then the Ducks fell silent for 3 full innings.  They broke out with 13 runs in the 5th, proving that these Ducks have the talent top to bottom.  The Clowns answered with a few of their own pushing the game to a tied which would not be broken until the 8th inning of play.  There was no quit and it was the teamwork mentality that propelled the Ducks to 5 more runs, allowing them to hold on for the win.

The true story of this day was teamwork and team effort.  With a few in game injuries and on the fly adjustments being made, these Ducks stuck together and leaned on each other as a unit.  There is not a need for one Duck to carry the weight because all the Ducks are doing their part!
