The Splittin’ Mariners did it again. In game 1 against the Grasshoppers, Scott Greenberg kept the Mariners in the park which few pitchers have done and limited to big Mariner bats to 4 runs as the Hoppers rolled 12-4.

Game 2 was much more fun as the red hot Marauders came in off their first victory of the season. A 2 run single by Troy Steele started the scoring in the first. A two run Tim Jamieson dinger was followed by a solo blast by Ryan Driggers in the third. Six from the Marauders gave them a 9-5 lead after 3. The Mariners continued their big ball assault with a 2 run homer by Kyle Crouse in the fourth, then a two run Driggers bomb in the sixth followed by a grand slam by Jon Simonson which vaulted the Mariners to a 15-9 lead. Final score 16-10 Mariners.

Matt Hyson was our IPOW in his last games as a bachelor, with 6-8 from the leadoff position, two doubles, 3 runs, 4 RBI’s. Troy Steele was 4-6 as was John Miller. Ryan Driggers was 4-7 with 2 doubles, 2 homers and 4 RBI’s. The Mariners will be petitioning the league to provide limo service to the games for the Driggers family as they showed up in time to watch him go HR, HR, and fly ball 3 feet short of HR. Tommy Baer, Tim Jamieson and Jon Simonson were all 3-6.
