Game 1- Corny Dogs at Blue Rocks

Facing a tough test in the form of HoF pitcher John Banta and his Blue Rocks the Corny Dogs endured a walkoff defeat 11-10. Early offense led by slugger Miguel Duron with a couple RBI and his first HR of the season, a line drive shot to left in the third inning. After going scoreless in the 4th, sub Oswald Abarca got the offense chugging again in the 5th inning with a one out double. With a couple of men on Mitch Klaassen continued his impressive start with his first dinger, a three run shot to put the Corny Dogs in position to win. Unfortunately the offense went dormant and the Blue Rocks were able to squeak it out in extra time.

Game 2- Dragon’s at Corny Dogs

Brad Parr hits a three run shot to tie late, but Corny Dogs fall in extras 17-12. Fresh off walkoff defeat the Corny Dogs decided to start the game showing off their sticks. Back-to-back-to-back HRs from Taylor Abrego, Duron and Abarca gave the “softball team on a stick™” an early lead. After putting a dent in John Unell’s stack of cards, the offense continued to score, plating five runs in the third inning. Abarca and Klaassen chipping in with doubles. As the temperature heated up the bats cooled off though, after failing to score for the next three innings the Dogs found themselves in a three run hole in the 7th inning. Abrego and Abarca found their way on base, setting the table for Parr’s big three run shot over the left field wall to tie the game. Tommy Apligian would follow that up with a shalom triple leaving the CDs poised to claim victory. Unfortunately third base is where the realtor remained, and once again the Corny Dogs were unable to score in “one pitch” falling to 1-3 on the season. Despite the close losses the Corny Dogs remain optimistic and look to get back on track this week with games against the Monarchs and Legends.

Wieners of the Week:
Mitch Klaassen 3-4 HR, 2B

Tommy Apligian 4-6 with excellent defense in LCF
Brad Parr 4-7 HR
