The Flying Squirrels entered the final weekend of the regular season with an outside shot of making the playoffs but needed to win two against the Corny Dogs plus get some help from other teams.

Game 1 got off to a quick start, tied at 7 after 2. Big hits were a two run single from Randy Ransom, a two run dinger from Troy Steele and another RBI single from Ransom. The Squirrels led the rest of the way, carrying a slim 9-8 led into the final inning. A four run uprising from the Dogs gave them the W and ended the Squirrel playoff hopes 12-9.

Game 2 saw the Squirrels playing looser as defensive positions were jumbled and Dustin Bone took to the mound and pitched very well. The Squirrels prevailed 10-8. Big hits came from Tim Jamieson with an RBI double, a two run single from Dustin Bone and a two run single from Brian Ortega.

The Squirrels had a well balanced attack today as Tim Jamieson led the way with 4-7, 3 doubles, 2 runs and 2 RBI’s. Robbie Franklin and John Miller went 3-5 and Dustin Bone and Brian Ortega 3-6. That ends the season for the Flying Squirrels with a disappointing win-loss record but another great Shalom season nonetheless.
