Going into the last weekend of the season, the Saints needed something they haven't done in a long time, a sweep, and some help to earn a playoff spot.  Two tough matchups with the Hops and Pirates would prove to be a task we were up to.

Game 1: Saints 14 Hops 10

The Hops came out swinging early and put up a quick three spot, but we would answer with six of our own thanks to bombs by Miguel Duron and Brad Parr.  After batting through the lineup in the first, we would repeat that along with another six spot in the second.  Miggy's second of three homers started the scoring and big hit throughout the lineup followed.  The Hops showed some fight after being down 12-3 by plating five runs in the third.  In the bottom of the third, we scratched two more on a third Miggy bomb and leaned on pitching and defense to take us home.  One down and one to go after an hour break.

Game 2- Saints 13 Pirates 12

In a "must win" game with a brutal wind blowing in and Cy Young winner John Burke on the bumps, we rallied the troops and prepared for a battle.  We jumped out to a 9-1 lead after the first two innings and this time it wasn't the long ball that got us there.  Some solid hitting and aggressive baserunning took advantage of a shaky Pirates defense to jump ahead.  We stretched that lead to 13-1 going into the bottom of the fourth and it seemed to be cruise control time.  However, the Pirates showed some real grit and loaded the bases with two outs and the winning run on second base.  A sharp line drive to second base ended it and salvaged the sweep.

Two losses from the Colt 45s and Rangers vaulted us to the #3 seed heading into the playoffs.  Time to get some practice time in and get back at it on June 19th!
