Game 1 vs Grasshoppers

The grills were fired up and the Brats were ready to cook up an awesome feast of Grasshoppers! Grasshoppers would kick things off with a single run and the Bratmen fired back with 3 runs of their own. Dylan Buhrow and Dougie Kramer singles would lead to a bases clearing, 2RBI triple from our fearless leader, David Buhrow. Capitan would come home on an RBI single from fashion-forward Clint Hathcock. Bats on both sides would go quiet in the 2nd inning but pick up again in the 3rd. With his beer and pretzel dog cheering him on, Karlos Rodriguez would start things off with a walk, followed by another single from Dilly Dilly, and KROD would come home on an RBI double from Luke Morgan. A 2RBI SAC from Dougie Kramer would put the Brats up 6-1 going into the 4th. 

The grill got a little too hot as things began to take a turn, with Grasshoppers plating 6 runs in the top of the 4th, but Michael Bourque would help the Brats keep the lead with an RBI double, bringing home Abel Chavez from a single earlier in the inning. Grasshoppers would go on to score 5 more runs, while the Brats ran out of mustard and couldn’t piece anything together, taking the first loss of the season 12-7. 

This writer would like to give a special shoutout to Grasshoppers right fielder, Joe Machado, for completely laying it all out (GAME 1 NO LESS) to absolutely rob Danny Buhrow of what would have been a major hit. I tip my alpine hat to you good sir! 

Game 2 vs Mariners

Brats had an hour to marinade before the next game, and took the time to keep the right mindset and look for the split. Starting off this game as well with a 3 run first inning, Dylan Buhrow and Reese Leonard would single, with an RBI SAC from Luke Morgan, single from Dougie Kramer, RBI single from David Buhrow, and an RBI from Clint Hathcock. In the 2nd inning, Jim Finley would single and Bourque would walk, leading to a 2RBI double from Dylan Buhrow. Mariners would plate 2 more in the 4th, making it a 5-3 game going into the 5th. 

5th inning, KROD leads off with a single and Dylan Buhrow would get his 5th hit on the day, being brought home with an RBI triple from Reese Leonard. Reese would come home with an RBI single from Luke, who would come home with an RBI double from Dougie Fresh. Being up 9-3, the Brats defense went into full effect and kept the Mariners scoreless for the last 3 innings, earning the spilt and winning 9-3! 

Winners of the Brat Eating Contest:

1. Dylan Buhrow 6-8 1-2B 2RBIs and 3Rs. Solid defense in LCF besides calling David off of a ball that landed 4 feet from him

2. Dougie Kramer 4-6 1-2B 3RBIs and 2Rs. Excellent relief pitching game 1 and solid 3B defense.

3. Jim Finley 3-6 with 1R and all the scoops at 1st base!
