Game 1 @ Woodpeckers

Field 4 with the wind blowing in from right field made for a tough game to score a lot of runs or so we thought. Woodpeckers came out swinging and capitalized on a few mistakes to jump out to a solid 9-0 lead. But the Padres always fight and had a lot of game left. Ace John Burke would dominate the next 6 innings to not give up another run. Each inning the Padres chipped away at the lead and would come away with a massive comeback from 9-0 to win 11-9.

Padres of Game 1:

Alfredo Sardi – 2/4, single and a double, 2 runs scored and great defense in LF.

Ryan Prim – 3/4, 2 singles, triple, 3 runs scored, 1 RBI and locked down RCF.

Jeremy Golden (Turbo) – 2/3, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI. Fantastic job flipping the lineup with incredible hustle every AB.

John Burke and Team Defense – After a big first inning punch and some miscues on defense, Burke locked in along with our defense to go 6 innings of scoreless softball. The entire team showed grit and never give up mentality. Big Win!

Game 2 vs Dragons

Coming off the high of the first game comeback win we knew the Dragons would come out swinging. And they did just that as they scored 3 in the top of the first. But the Padres answered back with 1 run of their own from Jon Simonson 2 out double to score Alfredo Sardi. Heading into the bottom of the 3rd the Dragons led 3-1. The Padres would proceed to put up a nice 4 spot to take a nice 5-3 lead, off the bats of James Keller, Ryan Prim, Ronny Mendoza and Jon Simonson. Unfortunately, the Dragons would chip away and put up another 6 runs over the next 4 innings. This was too much for the Padres as they came up just short losing 9-5. The Padres are extremely close from the sweep and winning that 2nd game. The season is very bright for the Padres 2023! After 3 weeks we are dead middle of the standings at 3-3.

Padres of Game 2:

Jon Simonson – 3/3, 2 singles, double, 2 RBI, and another clutch hitting game and locked down 3rd.

Ryan Prim – 2/2, 2 singles, 1 run scored and BB. Diving play in RCF to save a run or two.

James Keller – 2/2, single and a double. This guy might just be the hottest hitter on the team.
