Legends – 12 vs. Sea Wolves – 13

Despite their struggles this season, Kravitz’s Legends came fired up and ready to play.  There’s no real way to sugar coat this…they put a Legendary beat down on the Sea Wolves for the first 45 minutes and 4.5 innings (insert one sided wrestling match reference here).

Heading into the bottom of the 5th inning, the Water Pups were down 12-4 with the bottom of the order coming up.  Bryan Roth took a one out walk to get things going and Sub Cameron Bourque pulled off his signature infield single to flip things over to the top.  From there, a T-Mart single to load things up, Grayson Vick RBI single, Richardson RBI single, and Barr 2 RBI single would follow.

Legends up 12-8 with 2 outs now. Jon Banta smacked a line drive RBI single and sub Ronel Martinez added one of his own.  Super sub Ellis Shwarts, who had already had 2 RBI singles on the day, hit a missile of a line drive to plate 2 more runs and tie the game 12-12.  With the game now tied, we were prepared to extend the game another inning, but Gumaro Castillo had other plans as he snuck an RBI single to take the lead and run the clock out to secure an amazing, come from behind victory 13-12.

Sea Wolves – 11 vs. Sock Puppets – 10

After an emotional, come from behind victory, the Sea Wolves were in for another instant classic.  For the first 5 innings of this game, Eusay/Williams Sock Puppets put on a hitting clinic, besting the Water Pups 10-6.

With time expiring, the Sea Wolves needed to get it done in the top of the 6th.  Richardson led things off with a single that Brad Earls would eventually send home on an RBI single.  A couple hits later and the bases were loaded for Gumaro Castillo, who took a 2 out walk to get the score up to 8-10.  Matt Myers, who was playing with a very heavy heart, came up in the clutch when we needed him most with a 2 RBI double to tie the game at 10-10.

Although the game was tied, we had to clamp down the defense, and clamp down the defense we did, with one of the tough outs being made by Mr. Clutch himself, Matt Myers.

Two back and forth scoreless extra innings would ensue. In the top of the 9th, Gumaro Castillo and Matt Myers both did what they had done all day, getting back-to-back singles in the moment we needed them most.  A Bryan Roth fielder’s choice would score one run before the end of the inning, and that is all it would take to secure the victory, 11-10.

Per an anonymous source, Captain JJ Eusay, walked up to the plate with a chance to win the game for the Sock Puppets, and confidently said, “We’re about to win with this swing, I got this.”, and then proceeded to pop out.  Ultimately, the comeback by Captain Anthony’s Sea Men was just too much, causing Captain Eusay to choke.
