Red Sox rally in both games for the sweep !

The Red Sox played 2 fantastic games against Matt Roth’s Indians and Matt Ruckel’s White Sox.

Game 1 in the frigid conditions had the Indians score 2 followed by the Sox tying with2 runs on consecutive 2 out 2bs by Garret Granato, Joe Calvano and Ryan Maxwell. Neither team scored ion the 2nd but the visitors grabbed 3 in the top of the 3rd for a 5 -2 lead. The Sox responded with 4 in the home 3rd on captain Casper’s 2B, Brian Conn’s rbi hit, a BB to Sheldon Fulton, 2 run 2B from Alfredo Sardi and an rbi hit from Maxwell. The Indians tied it in the 4th but the Sox grabbed a 1 run lead back on Josh Winsor’s HR. The Indians would score 6 in the top of the 5th for a 12-7 lead but the Sox rallied for 6 ion the home half. The winning rally started with a Conn, hit, a Sardi hit, a Granato run scoring hit, a SF from Calvano, and with 2 outs, a Maxwell hit, Eli Goldaris  hit,  a 2 out bases clearing 2B from Winsor and hits from Austin Montgomery and walk off from Dorian Moore and the 13-12 win.

Game 2 was even more tight if possible, with the Sox scoring 5 in the 1st behind Fulton hit, Sardi hit, Granato run scoring hit, Calvano BB, Maxwell 2 run hit, and a 2 run hit from sub Todd Lecocq who was called in between games due to injury and emergencies. The White Sox scored 2 in the 1st and 4 in the 2nd for a 6-5 lead. The Red Sox plated 2 in the 3rd on a run scoring hit from Maxwell and SF from Goldaris. The hosts tied it at 7 after 3 innings and the game would stay tight. Neither team scored in the 4th but the Red Sox grabbed 3 in the 5th on a 3B from Fulton, SF from Sardi, and 2 run HR from Calvano. The hosts scored 1 to narrow it to 10-8 thru 5. The Red Sox grabbed 1 in the 6th on Casper’s rbi 3B but the hosts would score 5 on hits, fielding challenges, walks and appeared to have the game at 13-11. The Red Sox grabbed the last out with under a minute to go and tied it with 2 in the 7th on a run scoring hit from Calvano and FC rbi from Goldaris. The White Sox, did not score in the home 7th and extras ensued. The Red Sox plated 5 on hits and BBs from Ian Contreras, Casper, Fulton, Sardi, Granato, Calvano, Maxwell, Goldaris and held the hosts to 1 in the home 8th for a 18-14 win and sweep of 2 great games.

 

Notables: POW Garret Granato 8-8, 6 runs, 3 RBI, 3 2Bs, great LCF, then SS defense; POW Josh Winsor 2-3, 2 runs, 4 rbi, 2B, HR and a hamstring injury; Dorian Moore 3 hits, walk off game 1 rbi; ROW Ryan Maxwell 7-8, 2 runs, 6 RBI, 2B, LF defense; Sheldon Fulton 5 runs, 2B, 2 BBs; Alfredo Sardi 4 hits 5 runs, 4 RBI, 2B, BB SF; Joe Calvano 3-4, 4 runs, 6 RBI, 2 2Bs, HR, 2 BBs, 2 SFS great defense at SS then LCF.
