Red Sox sweep 2 tight contests to clinch a playoff spot

Game 1 v Silverman’s Rangers had the Rangers score 2 in top of the 1st. The Sox plated 6 in the home half behind a run scoring hit from Ryan Maxwell, 2 RBI 2B from Alfredo Sardi, a run scoring 2B from Eli Goldaris, another run scoring 2B from Josh Winsor and a run scoring hit from Dorian Moore. The Sox scored 3 more on Joe Calvano 3b for 1 run and a 2 run HR from Maxwell.  The Rangers closed within 9-8 but the Sox responded w a 3 run HR from Garett Granato. The Sox closed the scoring on a HR from Goldaris and another run scoring Moore hit. Austin Montgomery chopped in a solo HR in the 15=11 win.

Game 2 at Garber’s A’s was tight all the way. The Sox trailed 2-0 after 1 and only scored 1 in the 2nd on a Goldaris 2B and Moore run scoring hit. The visitors grabbed the lead for good w 5 in the 3rd featuring run scoring Granato hit, a Maxwell 2 run 2B, and a Goldaris 2 run HR into the wind. The A’s climbed to 6-4 after 3.  Behind a Calvano 2B, the Sox scored on SFs by Sardi and Maxwell. The last 2 runs came on the captains 2 out 2 run 2B and the A’s did score 4 and left the tying run on 3rd but the Sox prevailed 10-9.

The A’s and Rangers made the Red Sox earn the 2 wins. Credit to their teams.

Notables: POW  Eli Goldaris 5-6. 4 runs, 4 RBI, 2 2Bs, 2 HRs, many strong plays at 1B; POW Dorian Moore 5-6 1 run 3 RBI;  POW Ryan Maxwell 4-5, 4 runs, 6 RBI, 2 2Bs, HR: Sheldon Fulton 2 hits 2 BBs, 4 runs; Garett Granato 4-5 3 runs, 3 4RBI, 2b, HR,BB great defense; and the team as a whole enthusiastically await the playoffs.
